New packaging - same content. Our Cactus Allrounder 24h Cream is now available in an aluminum tube instead of our previously known glass packaging. For us, sustainability is still one of the most important things in our decision-making processes, so we will explain to you very transparently why we have chosen the aluminum tube as a more sustainable packaging option.

A difficult decision against the beloved iconic HEJ glass bottle: When it comes to sustainable packaging, there is no completely right or wrong decision, so we took a close look at the advantages and disadvantages of both packaging options to decide on the more sustainable and user-friendly one.

Although glass bottles are generally considered environmentally friendly, there are some disadvantages that need to be considered when choosing packaging. One of the main problems with glass bottles is the difficulty of emptying them completely, which often led to product waste in the case of the Allrounder Cream. We often received this feedback from you, so we knew we had to make a change! #hejlistens
Because glass is so fragile, it can be dangerous in the bathroom if the bottle slips out of your hand and falls to the floor. In addition, the glass bottle comes with a pump dispenser made of a lot of plastic, which we wanted to minimize.
In addition, glass bottles are heavier than aluminum tubes, which leads to higher transportation costs and CO2 emissions.

One of the main reasons for the change is that it can be completely emptied. Because the tube is easier to empty than our glass bottle, we can avoid wasting product in the future! The precise dosing also ensures economical use.
In addition, the difference in weight means that transport is more CO2-friendly. This in turn leads to a reduction in our CO2 emissions.
Because aluminum is impermeable to light and oxygen, valuable ingredients remain in the tube for a long time and the product retains its quality over a longer period of time. The protection against air, light and UV rays prevents oxidation and contamination of the product.
(Oxidation means that the cream can be damaged by contact with oxygen and its effectiveness can be impaired, while contamination means the unwanted introduction of foreign substances (such as bacteria) into the packaging via the cream.) 
The aluminum in the tube is also 100% recyclable and, even after many recycling processes, still retains the same properties and qualities as when it was first used and can therefore be recycled an infinite number of times. In the recycling process, aluminum only requires 5% of the energy needed to produce new aluminum. This is a great advantage for the environment.
The lid of our aluminum tube is still made of plastic, but we were able to reduce the amount of plastic used compared to the pump dispenser on the glass bottle. This meant that we were able to save 160 kg of plastic during the production of the first batch.

The Allrounder 24H Face Cream Cactus is our first HEJ product with aluminum packaging. #hejlistens and values the opinions of customers. This gave the first impetus to further develop the packaging with regard to emptying. We are all the happier that we can make a positive contribution to our environment with the change and even improve the product quality. All of this under the premise of maintaining the high standards of product design and ultimately offering our customers a high-quality, lovingly designed and sustainable product.
