Spring is not only a new beginning for nature, but also for your skin. While in the cold winter months it tends to be more dry, gets less oxygen and we all look a little paler, in spring the opposite happens. So that your skin can prepare perfectly for the warm months, we have put together some tips for you.
How your skin changes in spring
The skin is our largest organ and a small miracle. Every month you are wearing a completely new outfit; that's how long it takes for the skin to completely renew itself. We don't really notice the whole process. It becomes most obvious when we slowly lose our tan after the summer.
In addition to the monthly changes in the skin, there is also the skin's metabolism, which takes place in a 12-hour cycle. During the day we speak of the passive phase and at night of the active phase. This means that the skin regenerates at night, which is why sufficient sleep is also an important factor for beautiful skin.
In addition, your skin reacts differently to the different seasons and therefore has very different needs.
The change from winter to spring
In cold temperatures, the blood vessels in our skin contract. This is a great way to keep the body warm. But this means stress for the skin: the contraction of the blood vessels means the skin receives less nutrients and less oxygen. This is why the face often looks grey in winter.
In addition, the skin produces less sebum in winter. Sebum production provides the natural oily film on our skin. This is important to protect the skin from negative environmental influences and to prevent the skin's natural moisture from escaping. Heating air is also a stress factor for your skin. This is why your skin often has to deal with dryness, tightness and redness in winter.
In spring, the change happens: the skin's sebum production picks up again and the natural oil film is strengthened. Your skin shines again and looks healthier. Even though we are all looking forward to the sun after a long, gray winter, you have to take extra care of your skin now. Since it has hardly been exposed to any sunbeams before, it is now particularly susceptible to sunburn and other irritations.
Another big plus point is the warmer temperatures: we can finally wear loose clothing again! You've probably already had the experience of walking through the sun in loose clothing on the first warm days of spring - you can literally feel your skin exhaling and coming back to life in that moment.
3 tips to bring your skin to life in spring
Now you know what happens to your skin in spring. With the following tips you can support your skin in spring and make it glow.
1. Free them from old things
In winter, your body is thickly wrapped up, the skin can't breathe much and tends to become dry and flaky on the face and body. To help your skin adjust to spring and make you forget the cold winter months, you can now pamper it regularly with a peeling.
For the face and body, an intensive peeling once a week is sufficient. If you have sensitive skin, you should use a gentle peeling on your face so as not to irritate your skin. You can then use this more than once a week, provided you can tolerate it.
2. Give it moisture without burdening it
Skin care depends not only on the different seasons, but also on your skin type. In general, however, people tend to use richer skin care products in winter.
In the warmer months, most skin types benefit from a lighter care formula, as the increased sebum production allows them to protect themselves better. In addition, sweat can be transported away more effectively in hot temperatures.
Your skin needs about a month to adjust: To make it as easy as possible for it, you should now use a light day cream that provides plenty of moisture. You can continue to use the rich cream at night. Once the month is over, you can also use a lighter cream at night.
3. Protect them from sun rays
There is almost nothing nicer than spending the first days of spring outdoors and recharging your batteries in the sun. This is great for your vitamin D levels and stimulates the production of serotonin. Serotonin is the hormone that makes you feel happy.
In winter, your skin usually doesn't get much sun. Even if there are sunny days in the cold winter months, the UV radiation is much less intense than in spring or summer.
When spring begins, your skin needs to slowly get used to the sun again. To protect it from sunburn, you should now switch to a day cream with a sun protection factor.
Your natural day care for spring with sun protection factor
Our Sensitive Day Cream protects your skin with a natural sun protection factor of 15. It was specially designed for sensitive skin, making it the ideal companion for almost every skin type after winter.
The hemp oil with omega 6 fatty acids promotes cell regeneration, i.e. the renewal of your skin. This way you can actively support your skin during the transition from winter to spring. In contrast to other oils, the oil extracted from hemp seeds is very light and does not make your skin too greasy. This means that the day cream can accompany you throughout the spring and summer.
Chamomile flower water provides your skin with plenty of moisture and has an antibacterial effect. Like all our products, Sensitive Day Cream is 100% natural - the same goes for the sun protection it contains. The mineral filter made of titanium dioxide protects against sunburn. We have formulated the cream so that no white residue remains on your skin, as you might be used to from other mineral sunscreen creams. This is the perfect way to start spring and enjoy the first sunny days after a long winter.
